I’ve stayed at Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa twice: once with my daughter and once with my husband, and each visit holds near and dear special moments for us all. Here is what to expect on your visit, and the reasons you’ll love this gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountain resort in Georgia.
I was hosted by the resort in order to write this post. As always, reviews and opinions are 100 percent mine.
1. Well-Appointed Lodging
There are a few different types of accommodations at Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa. I’ve only stayed in the deluxe lodge in a standard room, which is spacious and complete with a comfortable king-sized bed, plush bedding, a couch, and a table with two chairs. One of the rooms had a gas-log corner fireplace. I’ve never been one to fancy a fireplace in my room (I’m from Vero Beach, FL), but with the temperatures in the 40s and 50s Fahrenheit, and autumn in full force, the warmth and glimmer it added to our room was quite lovely.
Bathrooms are spacious with a single sink and large vanity. The rooms have a bathtub/shower combo, praise be, as I’m a bathtub queen.
Fun Fact: There are 102 guestrooms in the lodge. Many offer balconies. King and queen type rooms are ADA accessible.
Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa has eight cottages with various layouts (four bedroom types), nestled in a picture-perfect forest setting. Each cottage has a covered wooden deck and a host of other amenities.
2. Unique Accommodations
I was privy to seeing the Equani Spa Suite at Brasstown Valley Resort, and let me tell you, wow! This upstairs apartment-style dwelling is above the spa located across the highway from the resort entrance. There is a large living room with a 46-inch flat-screen TV and stone gas fireplace with beautiful furnishings and a kitchenette and wet bar, but the property’s star is the romantic bedroom and bath.
You’ll be swept away at the sight of the stylish bathroom with a huge Jacuzzi tub that opens into the bedroom. A super cool feature was the “Experience Shower,” which has 12-head Swiss shower bars, steam, marine speakers, aromatherapy, and LED lights for a full-sensory experience.
The Spa Suite also has a private rooftop deck area with lounge chairs overlooking the north Georgia mountains. There is 825 square feet of living space in this little slice of heaven.
3. Fun Resort Features
From the moment you arrive at the Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa, and the bellman takes your luggage and valet parks your car (but you can self-park, too), you are whisked into a rustic but chic property with all the bells and whistles. Check-in is a breeze, and then you will find yourself confronted with the dazzling hotel lobby.
This is no typical hotel lobby, but one with a massive stone fireplace in the center under oak-vaulted ceilings, tall windows around the back that peer into the mystical mountain ranges, and seating groups that beckon you to linger for a spell. It is also perfect for playing board games or jumping in to work on one of the puzzles out on the tables. My husband couldn’t pass them up any time he passed through the lobby.
Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa has rooms on one wing of the property, convention rooms on the other, and a museum, restaurant, and fitness center downstairs.
My favorite thing about this resort is the glass-enclosed indoor pool and hot tub and connecting outdoor pool and hot tub. So, if you want to stay warm and snuggly indoors or step out into the night air and immerse yourself in a refreshing soak with the bevy of trees and mountains in the background, the choice is yours.
Also outside is a walking trail, swings that overlook the mountains, and an eye-catching waterfall. Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the onsite fishing pond and lighted tennis courts (plus complimentary equipment usage). At the same time, one can get their daily exercise at the onsite state-of-the-art fitness center and 9 miles of gorgeous hiking trails.
If you are in the market for a conference hotel or resort, Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa is more than able to handle your retreat or special function. I couldn’t believe how many conference rooms and meeting space it had until I took a wrong turn in the resort and ended up there.
4. Delicious Dining At The Onsite Restaurants
The Dining Room at Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa is open for breakfast and dinner. For breakfast, enjoy biscuits and gravy, Eggs Benedict, or a classic breakfast platter to pair with your coffee or espresso. The dining room also has à la carte items, yogurt, and oatmeal for those with a lighter appetite.
Reserve your time slot for dinner and be prepared to feast on a delightful dinner from the seasonal menu. I had one of the best steaks of my life for dinner, which was surprisingly a New York Strip. The steak was seared and cooked to perfection, then drizzled with a brandy cream sauce. It was superb! The steak came with rustic mashed potatoes and asparagus. My husband enjoyed the pecan-crusted chicken with a fig sauce and rice pilaf. Again, superb.
Save room for a great dessert with about six to seven choices. We shared a slice of peanut butter chocolate cake and it was light but full of rich flavors.
Remember I said I had been here before? On that visit, I tried the meatloaf, a signature dish from Brasstown, and it is the mother of all meatloaves. If you are a fan of meatloaf, you’ll want to try it.
A second restaurant is Brassies Grill, a sports bar with TVs, a jukebox, and billiards on the lower level. My husband and I went for dinner and to watch the big game. Brassies’ menu has burgers, chicken quesadilla, fish and chips, and other tasty bar-style eats. Our service was spectacular, and the cocktails mixed with expertise.
5. A Stellar Golf Course
If you are a golfer, you will fall in love with the award-winning 18-hole championship golf course. Not only will you enjoy a friendly all-levels course and excellent greens, but you will have a fresh dose of mountain air, too. Holes are situated in the Blue Ridge Mountain vistas and are welcome for amateurs of any skill and offer full practice options. My husband raved about the course design, the scenery, and the wildlife you may see along the way.
Golf packages are available to include accommodations and a breakfast add-on.
Fun Fact: Brasstown Valley golf course was rated one of the Top Courses in Georgia by Golf Digest and Leading Golf Courses of America.
6. Picturesque Stables And Friendly Horses
How many golf resorts do you visit that have trail-riding experiences on horseback? This one does — 5 miles of trails. The Stables at Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa is picture-perfect in every way. Plus, it has horseback riding programs for beginners to experts in the saddle in the form of one to two-hour guided mountain trail rides. The stables even offer hand-led horseback rides for children up to six years old in the riding ring.
On my first visit to Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa, my daughter took her first horseback riding session and learned so much. She had a blast and couldn’t wait to go again.
You can schedule a custom horse-based excursion, hayrides, or catered picnic ride for individual or group outings. A last but not least offering at the stables includes the newly added axe-throwing and archery activities.
7. A Dreamy Spa
I’ve already professed my love for the swimming pools and hot tubs, but a close runner-up is a visit to the Equani Spa. Oh goodness, you will be pampered head to toe and massaged (or whatever treatment you choose) by an expert to kiss your stress goodbye.
I signed up for a deep-tissue massage, much needed after the waterfall hikes and lugging suitcases around. My husband and I ended up having a couples massage, which was a first for us. The massage therapists were both skillfully trained and provided wonderful treatments for both of us. We also spent some time hanging out in the relaxation room.
Other treatments available are manicures and pedicures, hydrotherapy, facials, and unique services related to the Cherokee culture of the area.
Pro Tip: Pack a bathing suit. You will need one for the heated swimming pools, plus you can use the outdoor hot tub at the spa, if you go.
