Well, here’s a welcome development from one of our favorite lobster roll spots in the Northeast. Grace Church of Martha’s Vineyard just announced they’re lowering the price of their delicious “Lobster for Two” kit by $5.

Now, the kit — which comes with an 8-ounce container of lobster meat, two hot dog rolls, and two small bags of chips — will cost $35, instead of $40. And this year, for the first time, they’re also offering what they call an “island special” option: for $18, you can get a single-sized portion.
Why They’re Doing It
Grace Church told us that the price they pay for lobster has come down, so they’re passing the savings on to customers.
If lobster isn’t your favorite, the church also has clam chowder, hot dogs, and pie on the menu. By the way, the pie looks especially delicious, with flavors like apple, blueberry, strawberry rhubarb, lemon meringue, and chocolate cream.
If you love lobster rolls, Grace Church is definitely worth a stop on your next trip to Martha’s Vineyard. Yes, it’s an actual church — they sell the rolls as part of an annual fundraiser that first began more than 30 years ago. But this isn’t your local church fish fry. People fly in from all over just to get a taste of those delicious lobster rolls. We did it ourselves (tough gig, right?) and we believe the hype. These are among the best lobster rolls we’ve ever had.
What Sets Them Apart
The folks at Grace Church don’t get too fussy with their recipe. They stick to the basics: lobster meat, a little mayonnaise, and a touch of seasoning. We think the rolls are all the better for it. Speaking of recipes, the kitchen is run entirely by volunteers.
And because it’s a church, proceeds go to local nonprofits. Doing some good, and getting a delicious meal — what could be better than that?
A Few Notes If You Go
For now, Grace Church is only offering curbside pick-up, and all ordering is done online here. Lobster rolls are only available on Fridays between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., but you can order in advance. In fact, we recommend it. Finally, all orders are to-go, but if you’re on Martha’s Vineyard, you’ll have no shortage of beautiful options to enjoy a lobster roll with a scenic view within a short walk or drive. Sounds like a perfect dinner to us.
