“This was an extraordinary project and the last I worked on with [founder Gordon “Butch” Stewart] as his final masterpiece,” said Adam Stewart, executive chairman of SRI and Stewart’s son. “He handpicked this location more than 3 decades ago for its white-sand coastline, cool breeze, azure waters, and its close proximity to the destination’s archetypical falls. It will not only serve to breathe new excitement into a corner of Jamaica loved and cherished by so many, but it will set a new standard of luxury for tourism right here in our backyard with a next-generation resort worthy of its nostalgic past.”
New Sandals Suite Concepts
The first-of-their-kind suite designs at Sandals Dunn’s River include views, luxury, and privacy. The Tufa SkyPool Butler Suites include glass panels the entire length of the oceanfront balconies with views of the Caribbean Sea. The Coyaba Swim-Up Rondoval Butler Suites are standalone villas with private pools, open-air rooftops, private soaking tubs, lounge areas, and incredible views. Mammee Bay Beachfront Butler Suites have spacious balconies overlooking the ocean.
New Menus
Sandals Dunn’s River includes 12 global gourmet restaurants featuring 10 concepts entirely new to Sandals. L’Amande will serve French and Jamaican fare; Edessa is a Greek concept bringing together the Caribbean and Aegean Seas; and the Asian-fusion menu at Banyu offers a blend of food from Thailand to Japan. Zuka first debuted at Sandals Royal Curaçao and will serve flavors from Central and South America. Jerk Shack will have rustic and traditional plates.
Nine bars at the resort will each have a unique identity. Dunn’s Rum Club will feature authentic Jamaican craft cocktails mixed with locally-sourced ingredients. The Laughing Waters beach bar offers bed-style seating right on the sand where you can sip champagne cocktails. A “Sandals First” in Jamaica is Ocarina, a rooftop bar. The Lapidus Lounge pays homage to renowned architect Morris Lapidus, who designed the resort when it was first built as the Arawak Hotel in the 1950s.
For coffee lovers, BLUM café is inspired by Jamaica’s Blue Mountains, where the beans are harvested and roasted exclusively for the resort. You can get fresh pour-over coffee or Japanese-style and nitro cold brew.
