And, to make booking those trips more appealing, the low-cost airline is offering 35 percent off round-trip flights from the U.S. to some popular European destinations during its 4th of July deal.
You’ll need to act quickly though: The deal, which is for flights to Europe this fall, will only last July 3–7, 2023.
“With PLAY’s 4th of July deal and already low fares, travelers can give themselves an early Christmas gift by booking a ‘shoulder season’ getaway when the summer crowds are gone,” Birgir Jónsson, CEO of PLAY, told TravelAwaits.
“It’s a great time for solo travel and for families to vacation, whether to London or Berlin to shop in Christmas markets or to experience Iceland’s incredible nature,” Jónsson continued. “PLAY’s amazing European destinations make spontaneous booking a no-brainer.”
How The Deal Works
From July 3–7, you can save 35 percent on round-trip flights from the U.S. to popular European destinations.
From the U.S. side, travelers can book flights from Baltimore/Washington’s International Thurgood Marshall Airport, Boston’s Logan International Airport, New York’s Stewart International Airport, and Washington’s Dulles International Airport.
The European destinations for the deal include Iceland, Copenhagen, London, Dublin, Amsterdam, Glasgow, Düsseldorf, and Hamburg.
It’s important to note that PLAY’s 4th of July deal is only valid for flights booked to Iceland, Copenhagen, London, Dublin, and Amsterdam between September 1 and December 15, 2023.
The deal is also valid for flights booked to Glasgow, Düsseldorf, and Hamburg between September 1 and October 31, 2023.
To get the sale price, all you need to do is visit the PLAY website while the deal is live and use promo code PLAY4JULY when booking your airfare.
PLAY’S Background
Icelandic airline PLAY — which was founded in Reykjavík, Iceland, in 2019 — began operations with service across Europe in June 2021. It initially only had seven routes to five countries, including service to Paris, London, Berlin, Copenhagen, and Barcelona.
Then, on April 20, 2022, PLAY began service to U.S. destinations with its inaugural flight from Baltimore/Washington’s International Thurgood Marshall Airport to Iceland. After that, PLAY quickly added service to Boston, followed by New York, then Dulles International Airport.
The airline has continued adding planes to its fleet, serving more routes, and attracting new passengers since then.
In 2022, almost 800,000 passengers flew on more than 5,400 PLAY flights. Interestingly, PLAY also logged its highest monthly passenger count last month when it flew almost 129,000 passengers, according to PLAY.
Know Before You Book
