If so, the hotel brand AmericInn by Wyndham may have an opportunity for you and your family.
“Outrageously delicious food, hog-calling contests, carnival games, and endless activities — summertime officially marks the return of the Midwest’s iconic state fairs, bringing on smiles, laughter, and full stomachs for families across the Heartland,” AmericInn told TravelAwaits. “To celebrate an iconic summer staple, AmericInn by Wyndham is back offering this summer’s best gig: State Fair Family.”
One “energetic, travel-hungry, and social-savvy” family will be tasked with visiting up to three state fairs in the Midwest over 1 week in August. During that journey, they’ll need to share their tips and tricks for visiting fairs on social media.
“In exchange for the family’s hard work of sampling finger-licking powdered-sugar-covered confections and stomaching swirling, adrenaline-inducing rides, the winning family will be provided with hotel arrangements including a $10,000 travel stipend and $5,000 cash,” AmericInn told TravelAwaits. “The family will also score a suitcase packed to the brim with AmericInn swag, an upgrade to Wyndham Rewards Diamond membership, and lasting memories for a lifetime.”
Here’s what you need to know about becoming AmericInn’s State Fair Family.
What The State Fair Family Does
“This dream job entails road-tripping with your family to some of America’s most iconic state fairs and creating lasting memories through captured moments on social media,” AmericInn explained. “Your family’s creative content and experiences will be featured on the AmericInn brand website and social media channels.”
Here’s how the State Fair Family will do that.
First, the lucky family will attend up to three separate Midwest state fairs over the course of 1 week, on or around August 11–18, 2023, AmericInn explains.
Importantly, they’ll need to document their adventures in real time with unique photo and video content. The family will also need to “inspire others” by sharing experiences on their established social media channels.
Finally, the family will contribute to AmericInn’s future “Best of the Midwest Fair Guide.”
In return, the State Fair Family will be provided with seven paid nights at AmericInn hotels; a $10,000 travel stipend for airfare, ground transportation, and on-the-go travel expenses; and $5,000 cash. AmericInn’s State Fair Family will also receive Wyndham Rewards Diamond level membership, a suitcase full of AmericInn swag, and, of course, the chance to make memories you and your family will always remember.
How To Apply
As AmericInn notes, its State Fair Family needs to be “energetic, travel-hungry, and social-savvy.”
To apply, you’ll need to send an email to AmericInn by July 25, 2023, including a family photo and at least a 300-word written entry explaining both why your family should be AmericInn’s State Fair Family and also what excites you the most about the opportunity.
Alternatively, you can submit a 60-second or shorter video explaining why your family is the ideal candidate for the job.
Either type of entry should be sent to fairfamily@americinn.com.
“Families should also provide the handles to any public and active social media accounts,” AmericInn explains. “Video submissions are highly encouraged to help assess applicants’ storytelling skills and social savviness.”
The parents or guardians must be at least 21 years old. Plus, since they’ll be driving from state fair to state fair, they must be a U.S. resident with a valid federal or state-issued ID.
AmericInn will select its State Fair Family by August 2, 2023.
