We all love being on the go, exploring new places, meeting new people, and experiencing new adventures. Personally, I love traveling light, and this means packing a well-considered thought-out wardrobe, along with work-horse beauty products that can pull double duty. If I’m bringing an item along on a trip, I want it to go the extra mile with me without taking up a bunch of space…or planning power!

I also want to make sure I don’t neglect my skin when I’m out and about. Travel can be stressful, and I want to have everything I need on hand to nourish, protect, and (bonus!) perhaps even beautify bit!
The great news is you don’t have to sacrifice a solid self-care routine while on the road! Here are seven of my favorite products — a mix of high and low price-points — that provide twice the benefits you’d normally expect, only take up a fraction of the space, and don’t skimp on a luxe look and/or feel!
Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Makeup Remover
Buy Now $7.99As I’ve gotten older, I find that my skincare routine has actually simplified. One game changer with multiple beauty uses? Garnier Micellar Water! This drugstore find utilizes tiny oil-based particles, which cling to dirt and grime without harshly stripping your skin. A quick swipe serves as a gentle, effective eye makeup remover plus skin refresher while not removing too much moisture. The result is a balanced, dewy finish ready for moisturizer or SPF. Another benefit of micellar water? Not having to rely on water to wash your face while on the go, important because its quality can vary depending on where in the world you might be. Hard water can do a number on your face, leading to redness and itchiness. Yuck.
I’m not going to lie, it took me a while to get over the fact I was skipping the suds in my daily skincare routine. But my face has never been brighter or clearer, and micellar water has become an absolute must when packing for a trip. I keep a small, travel-sized plastic bottle of the stuff at the ready, always!
Pillow Spray/Inhalation Mist
Buy Now $18Part of maintaining a polished exterior while traveling is making sure your whole self is getting care as well, and that means getting a great night’s sleep. That is often easier said than done, especially if you’re bouncing across time zones and battling jet lag. That’s why I’m loving Fresh Lavender Sleeping Mist from NHCO Botanical Bodycare. It’s a pillow spray that, because it’s made with all-natural botanicals, can also double as a relaxing inhalation mist during a bath, meditation session, or before bed. I bought my bottle from Liberated Roots Collection, an online curation offering high-quality products from Black makers and artisans.
Natural Coco Balm Crème Blush
Buy Now $22Sometimes, a cute little compact can go a long way, and that’s certainly the case with Inner Beauty’s crème blush. This 2-in-1 product is perfect for rosy glow-up cheeks, and gives your lips a bit of shiny gloss as well. It blends in effortlessly, and better yet, it’s infused with coconut and jojoba oils plus cacao butter, making it perfect even for sensitive skin. A couple of little dabs will last you the entire day, making the transition from sightseeing or beachcombing to evening activities nearly seamless. The blush comes in three classic, neutral shades, so you’re sure to find one that will leave you with the perfect glow.
Love + Sage Mint Condition Lip Balm
Buy Now$12 ($12.00 / Count)I find that travel — flying especially — can do a number on my lips, leaving them dry, cracked, and chapped…no matter how hydrated I stay. No one wants to deal with that on vacation. So consider packing a tube of Love + Sage lip balm to calm things down and smooth them out. This New York City-based line uses all-natural, organic ingredients to soothe those tough travel lips. Choose one of their tinted balms to double as a lip gloss and moisture-packed eye color; opt for a neutral base balm for the same buttery feel on your lips, and double-up to use it on your cuticles, which can also get dried out and cracked on the go. Either choice punches above its weight in your cosmetics carry-on.
Jo Malone Body Crème
Buy Now $32I love, love, love Jo Malone. The London-based perfumer is renowned worldwide for its highly scented, luxe beauty and home items with must-have signature blends. Jo Malone’s body crème is a rich moisturizer that can of course be used all over after the bath or shower for an all-over body moisture lock. But I also dab it on my pulse points for a burst of scent, and you can even massage a tiny bit into the ends of your hair to prevent or alleviate split ends. While I have several favorite Jo Malone scents, its iconic English Pear & Freesia is a winner in my book. It’s fresh, bright, and a little woodsy without being too sweet. You can’t go wrong with packing a small travel-sized tub along with you on your next adventure.
Cotton Swabs Organic by Sky Organics – 500 Ct.
Buy Now$7.99 ($0.02 / Count)It’s easy to overlook cotton swabs when getting ready for your next trip, but make sure you throw just a few of these beauty workhorses in your cosmetics bag. You won’t regret it.
Obviously, they keep your ears debris-free, but they are also the perfect, disposable tool to perfect your makeup when on the go. Forget all the fancy precision brushes; a humble cotton swab dipped in micellar water and rolled into a point can fix uneven eye or lip liner, plus touch up your eyeshadow. It can even help fade a blemish into obscurity. Don’t rely on your hotel to have them in your room toiletry collection…they are too important not to have when you’re away from home, period.
Green Tea Sachets
Buy Now$13.50 ($13.50 / Count)I don’t like to drink a ton of caffeine while I’m traveling, beyond a single cup of coffee in the morning. It can make me jittery and upset my stomach. For me, green tea is a better choice: It’s got a lower amount of caffeine but is chock full of antioxidants that can help stave off wrinkles and fine lines. What’s more, scientists around the world have studied the health benefits that could come from incorporating green tea into your daily diet.
I love stashing a few sachets in my carry-on. It allows me to brew the perfect cup of tea or two in my hotel room, but that’s not all. Once the tea has steeped, chilled green tea sachets are perfect for soothing eyes that might puff up during travel or a long day exploring. It’s a terrific second use that will leave you feeling terrific, inside and out! Bonus: These tea sachets are round, the perfect shape for your eyes.
If you like to pack light like me, do your own double-duty check! Chances are you’ve already got beauty products that will fit the 2-in-1 bill or might be inspired by the options I’ve included. Don’t be afraid to bring them along, and put them to extra use, on your next getaway. This smart pack-hack will leave you with plenty of room in that carry-on, letting you feel lighter, and perhaps making way for something special to take home from your next adventure!
