ACLED Places US in Top 50 Most Conflict-Ridden Countries

Traveling abroad can be worrying due to exposure to new lifestyles, customs, and social cues, which can make you feel vulnerable and lost.

Real dangers abroad like pickpockets, scammers, and robbery exist but are not very common. Media often heightens our sense of danger.

The US was listed in the Top 50 Conflict-Ridden Countries by ACLED, an international watchdog monitoring political violence and protest trends.

The US has been on ACLED's radar since 2020 due to danger to civilians and armed group fragmentation, largely tied to protests and political conflicts.

The US might be higher on the list due to robust reporting of incidents. Other Western nations like France and Canada could also be monitored by ACLED.
